The Twilight saga continues this November with its next big-screen installment, New Moon — and its starlets look delish even if you’re not a vampire. Bloodsucking babes Nikki Reed, Rachelle Lefevre, Ashley Greene and Noot Seear got together with Glamour to give us mere mortals some tips on making your look oh so very after-dark.
Ashley Greene as Alice Cullen
If Forks had a resident undead cheerleader, it’d be Alice. This bubbly vamp understands that looking nighttime sexy doesn’t have to be severe, so try smoky brown eyes instead of black like Ashley Greene has here.
To get that sexy smudge-y effect, blend your eye makeup with a spongy applicator. Try using Dior 1-Colour Eyeshadow in Trendy Taupe ($28 at Sephora), then top with black eyeliner, light blush and a light pink lipstick.
Nikki Reed as Rosalie Cullen
Though chilly blonde Rosalie may be the coldest Cullen on the block, her earthly brunette doppelganger Nikki Reed welcomed the infusion of warmth Glamour gave her skin. “The whole pale thing works for Rob, people who like to stay indoors and out of the sun, like vampires, but not for me!”(Of course, she’s referring to co-star Robert Pattinson, who plays Edward Cullen and whose Oxford-worthy cheekbones have stolen the hearts of pubescent girls everywhere.)
To create sultry contours with your makeup for night, sweep a warmer-toned bronzer around the edges of your face and a lighter shade of bronzer over your forehead, nose, cheeks and chin. Try Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Soft Duo Bronzer in Amber Bronze ($31, esteelauder.com), which has both shades. Apply two coats of black mascara and gold eyeshadow on lids.
Rachel Lefevre as Victoria
Rachelle Lefevre reprises her Twilight role in New Moon as Victoria, a bloodthirsty vampiress hungry for revenge over the death of her Bella-tracking mate James. “In Twilight, I put in a little playfulness,” Rachelle says of her role. “In New Moon, I didn’t have any fun—it’s just pure anger!”
What better way to take this fiery redhead’s look from daytime to evening than with cherry red lipstick? For a similar lip shade, try Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick in Top Tomato ($11, at drugstores). Apply with a lip brush: Start at the center of your mouth and blend out. Skip blush, but go heavy on mascara—it balances out the more intense lip color.
Noot Seear as Heidi
Bloodsucking temptress Heidi, played by Noot Seear, disguises her carnivorous crimson eyes with blue contacts, making them an attention-grabbing violet shade. Thing is, the contacts the cast wore (shades of violet, amber or red) made them nearly blind at times: “I had to learn to wear them—not a beauty tip I’d recommend!”
For these eye-catching but still functional peepers, run turquoise liner like CoverGirl Eye Enhancers 1-Kit in Aqua Paradise ($3.50 at drugstores) along your lash lines. For loose, Botticelli-esque hair, try Seear’s trick for waves, starting with texture spray: “I scrunch my hair out of the shower, hit it with a dryer and let it go wild.”
