You girls know what I’m talking about: dressing up, doing your hair and putting on your makeup to go out is just more fun when there’s music playing in the background. Here’s my top 10 picks for jams while you get looking right:

1. “Vogue” by Madonna - The classic. Makes you feel like a movie star every time.

2. “Beautiful Girls” by Sean Kingston - This song is fun, but still chill enough to mouth the words while applying eyeliner.

3. “Glamorous” by Fergie - Doesn’t make you laugh as much as “My Humps”, which is a good thing - laughing can really destroy some lipliner. Still, it’s got that I’m-too-sexy vibe.

4. “LoveStoned” by Justin Timberlake - A sexy hip-hop beat gets the party started before you’re even there, and Justin’s not bad to think about either.

5. “Miss Independent” by Kelly Clarkson - Kelly’s the new name in girl power music, and Miss Independent skips the angsty why’d-you-leave-me angle that can really kill the mood.

6. “Rehab” by Amy Winehouse - Okay, she’s not exactly a role model, but this song has just the right tempo for strutting around your bedroom, and what makes you feel more like a celebrity than a song about rehab?

7. “Gold Digger” by Kanye West - It’s not exactly female empowerment, but lines like “Cutie the blonde, met her at a beauty salon with her baby Louis Vuitton under her underarm” make us all want to be that girl.

8. “Upgrade U” by Beyonce - she almost killed it with the DirectTV commercial, but I still do her signature pony dance when it comes on (and no one’s watching) - and I have trouble finding another song that mentions Hermes.

9. “You and Your Hand” by Pink - although she’s a little angrier than most of us, Pink reminds us of how to blow those guys at the bar off - and who your night out is really about.

10. “Just a Girl” by No Doubt - absolutely gets me going every time. Who doesn’t want to be Gwen Stefani at least a little?
