PUR MINERALS 4-IN-1 PRESSED POWDERIt seems there’s a new mineral makeup foundation on the shelves every day, but Pur Minerals was among the first to the craze along with their Bare colleagues. I’m a bit behind the times in just now reviewing my first Pur Minerals products, but I have to say, it was well worth the wait!

Unlike a lot of mineral makeup foundations, Pur Minerals didn’t leave my face overly shiny. Because the powder is pressed, it’s also much cleaner than the loose powder forms mineral makeup often takes. The foundation gives beautiful coverage without the cakiness I expected from the pressed format. The buffing brush (called by Pur Minerals a “chisel brush“) is one of the best performing of its kind, too - the foundation didn’t rub off as I swirled it on, nor were the bristles the least bit prickly.

The verdict: 9/10!

The only negative I’d like to point out about this line is that the color selection is a bit lacking. For this reason, I actually have two shades of the foundation and I blend as necessary. All in all, I loved the Pur Minerals foundation and can’t wait to try more of their products!

  1. I love mineral powders! I can’t wear regular foundations since every one I’ve tried (& there’s been lots!) makes my skin break out. I’ve got a mild type of POD (perioral dermatitis) even though I have no allergies. With mineral powder foundation, not only does it keep my skin clear, but it’s even improved it!!

Although I’m 58, I don’t have wrinkles - maybe good genetics, good lifestyle & staying out of the sun. So I’m not sure how well they work on lined skin or dry since mine still tends to be oily.

I use the Physician’s Formula loose powder & blend 2 shades together as I need to. Mineral powders do a great job in smoothing out uneven skin colour without looking like you’re wearing makeup at all. I’ve had others ask why I have such nice colouring as they can’t even tell I’ve got makeup on!

I suggest trying a few different brands from a store that lets you return items if you’re not satisfied. It’s what I did (but never had to return my first choice as it worked well).

You need to learn how to apply them properly otherwise you won’t get the best effect. If unsure, ask a qualified sales rep at the cosmetics department to show you how. I apply the powder loosely in the area I want most concealed & then with a large soft brush, I blend it in so one can’t tell where the powdered area starts or ends.

  2. I am 45 years old, I have tried so many different foundations over the years I could not begin to remember them all. I have finally found the perfect makeup!! Pur Minerals! I bought the try me kit about a month ago, and I have used it everyday, and went back and bought more of the pressed powder foundation. It is the only makeup I have ever used that did not make me feel like I had this thick layer of extra skin on my face. It feels so clean and pure, I am trying to get my sister hooked on it also. I am so thankful for the try me kit, because that is what sold me on the makeup for good..
