I love mineral powders! I can’t wear regular foundations since every one I’ve tried (& there’s been lots!) makes my skin break out. I’ve got a mild type of POD (perioral dermatitis) even though I have no allergies. With mineral powder foundation, not only does it keep my skin clear, but it’s even improved it!!

Although I’m 58, I don’t have wrinkles – maybe good genetics, good lifestyle & staying out of the sun. So I’m not sure how well they work on lined skin or dry since mine still tends to be oily.

I use the Physician’s Formula loose powder & blend 2 shades together as I need to. Mineral powders do a great job in smoothing out uneven skin colour without looking like you’re wearing makeup at all. I’ve had others ask why I have such nice colouring as they can’t even tell I’ve got makeup on!

I suggest trying a few different brands from a store that lets you return items if you’re not satisfied. It’s what I did (but never had to return my first choice as it worked well).

You need to learn how to apply them properly otherwise you won’t get the best effect. If unsure, ask a qualified sales rep at the cosmetics department to show you how. I apply the powder loosely in the area I want most concealed & then with a large soft brush, I blend it in so one can’t tell where the powdered area starts or ends.

I am 45 years old, I have tried so many different foundations over the years I could not begin to remember them all. I have finally found the perfect makeup!! Pur Minerals! I bought the try me kit about a month ago, and I have used it everyday, and went back and bought more of the pressed powder foundation. It is the only makeup I have ever used that did not make me feel like I had this thick layer of extra skin on my face. It feels so clean and pure, I am trying to get my sister hooked on it also. I am so thankful for the try me kit, because that is what sold me on the makeup for good..

I really liked this product howevr what really bothered me was that there weren’t enough shades. I have a darker skinned sister and the shades from this product line just dont work with her tone and make her look super grey. Very disappointing. We are both trying the Mineral Indulgence mineral makeup line (made for black women and biracial women) and are having great results with it. SO I would recommend that to any “woman of color”. http://mineralindulgence.com/

Pur minerals is good…just not enough shade selections.

  5. Is Your Mineral Makeup Really Mineral At All? | The Beauty Bunny

[...] Pur Minerals foundation is one of the best mineral foundations I’ve ever used, so I was surprised to see some of the powder float to the bottom — but then I realized because it’s a pressed powder, it might not work the way this test expects loose powder to work. Hmm. Still, most of the water stayed pretty clear despite my efforts at grinding the powder up and stirring it in. And when I wet my fingers in the water, the makeup did return to somewhat of a powdery texture — which as you read on you’ll realized was a rarity indeed. [...]
