I very rarely use hairspray, or for that matter any hair products that change the texture of my hair once it’s dry. I simply enjoy the luxurious feeling of soft, clean hair so much that I can’t bear to weigh it down with a bunch of silicon. When the time arises where my hair needs a little help staying in place, I prefer products with a lightweight finish like Jonathan Product Finish Control Hairspray.
Since I have thick hair, it generally takes a team of skilled professionals armed with rubber cement and fishing line to make my locks stay in place — and I can kiss my dreams of looking natural goodbye. That isn’t the case with this hairspray: it delivers a flexible hold that doesn’t weigh down hair. Plus, its all-vegan formula uses no animal by-products, so you PeTA lovers needn’t worry you’re sacrificing Flipper to your pin curls.
My only complaint about this spray is that the nozzle can get a bit clogged after a generous dose of spritzing — a problem easily dodged by rinsing the bottle’s head off under some hot water after you’re done. Jonathan is my new go-to product for finishing a delicate ‘do.
The verdict: 9 out of 10! Flawless hold without helmet head.
Jonathan Product Finish Control Hairspray is available for $30 at Amazon.com.
