Clairol Perfect Ten Permanent Haircolor in Lightest Blonde 10I abuse my hair like crazy. I blow-dry and flat-iron daily, and color it light blonde at home myself about once a month. So I’m probably not the best spokesperson for healthy color – but I am most likely the best person to talk to if you’re buying home color. Last night I tried Clairol’s new gem Perfect Ten, and I’m proud to say I adored it!

I got Lightest Blonde #10 (naturally!) and followed the directions to a tee. Now I don’t wear ash blonde well, so I loved the warm, rich color this gave me. If you’re looking for ash blonde or find that warmer/brassier tones wash you out, keep looking. This product dealt with nearly every problem with drugstore haircolor. It even came with a brush tip for the colorant bottle so you could evenly comb the product through your hair. I loved that because I’ve done the same thing myself at home by simply using a plastic wide-toothed comb while coloring!

The color didn’t even smell too bad – amazing, since light blonde usually smells like insecticide. And the conditioner (I always use the conditioner it comes with – you never know how yours will react with new color) smelled and felt like salon products, which is a rare experience for cheapy ol’ Bunny. The box instructed me to wait only ten minutes, a stretch from the 25-plus my allover blonde haircolor usually mandates. I jumped in the shower after 10 minutes and, sure enough, my color was rich and beautiful, and my roots nowhere in sight. I’m a believer!

The verdict: 5/5 stars – if I were on a 1-10 scale, you can bet there’d be some silly pun here, so be thankful.

You’ll love it if: You hate paying salon prices; you’ve been burned by at-home haircolor

You’ll hate it if: You’re not “handy” with your hair (but then you’ll hate all DIY color)

  1. If you have grey hair, it doesn’t colour them well. I used it, left it the extra 5 minutes and I have soft auburn everywhere but the grey. They STAND OUT horribly. I’m trying to find their address so I can tell them how bad it really was!

  2. I agree with Joanne, I left it in 10 extra minutes and it did not color the gray!

  3. I had the same problem as the post from Joanne and Charmaine. I was so excited to find a ten minute color (that I left on for 15). It colored my hair, but not the gray.

  4. If you have long hair – read this! I got it on my roots and then was working into the length (just past my shoulders) before I even got finished – the top was brassy looking after only 5 minutes. I would NOT use this again!

  5. Perfect 10 is perfect doo-doo. First, I love the comb applicator that comes with L’oreal perference so I was happy to try this out. The applicator is bigger than my brand and by far more messy. I cheated and left it on for 15 minutes because of some hard to color white hairs on my noggin. Ladies, I was washing this color out every time I shampooed! I couldn’t believe that a product marked as a permanent color washed out to leave me with roots 3 shades lighter than my former dark brown in a few weeks. In my humble opinion? Pass on this one.

  6. Oh my Rowan, you are very upset. Let me just go ahead and reply to the great majority of you by saying I don’t have grey/white hair(yet…I’m naturally light blonde, so I’m expecting to look like Santa Claus up there). Therefore, I don’t have a lot of experience with color that works well on grays and my reviews generally won’t cover that.

That being said, please start following the directions. Do the strand test just as the color prescribes and color your hair for that amount of time. As well, if you’re recoloring roots, please realize that the color will not come out even if you leave it on for the same amount of time. Why? Because your hair is two different colors. Yes. Really. Color doesn’t know it’s coloring two different colors of hair and adjust accordingly. It’s just some chemicals you bought in a box. So, do the Strand Test on both colors and leave the color on each part for that amount of time. Simply apply to your roots, wait the difference between the two amounts of time, and apply to the rest. (You may want to knock a little extra time off of the roots though – color works quickly up there because of all the heat coming off of your head.) In short, the color you bought isn’t necessarily your problem all the time.

  7. My natural hair color is in between medium and dark brown. I’m about 20% gray with some areas more gray than others. I’ve been using Natural Match Medium Golden Brown with good results, but the time it takes to color with that product makes it a dreaded chore. Also, I’m not a strand test kind of girl. I know I should, but I don’t.

The first time I used Perfect 10 Medium Golden Brown. It didn’t cover the gray as well as I am used to. I was upset during the processing that my hair was turning bright orange with the color on it. It was too late to back out at this point. I rinsed it out after 10 minutes, used the conditioner that came with it, styled as usual. My hair didn’t look orange. It was brown with reddish highlights. Gray coverage not as I would have liked but tolerable for 4 weeks until I colored again.

Four weeks later, I used it again. This time I changed the color to medium brown. It was better. I got better coverage of the gray than with the last attempt. Not what I wanted, but better. There was no flaming orange look during the development of the color and I am fairly happy with the end result. Next time I may try the dark brown.

I think that when trying a new at home hair color that some time the color we pick is not correct for us in that particular product. Then we do not get the desired result. You should just try a different color within the same hair color product like I did. Hope this helps.

  8. Lisa, an excellent point! Also please remember that Perfect 10 does not use the classic ammonia haircolor formula. As such, it’s more gentle on hair, but perhaps doesn’t act the way you’d expect it to. Good luck with your home color, girls! :-)

  9. This color was extremely damaging on my hair and washed away really quikly…pass on this one.

  10. So girls I need help. my natural color is light blonde and I was trying to go dark brown. So I thought I would try perfect 10 because i heard it works just dandy! now I know it says only leave on for 10 minutes, but since I was going from blonde to almost black I left it on all night to make sure the color would take. When I washed my hair the next day clumps of my hair were falling out and my hair turned a funky orange. my scalp is also permantly stained a brown color. im so pissed! everywhere I go people are giving me **** about my hair. this product sucks [censored]!!

  11. Linita!! I had the same problemo. this is going to sound very very odd..but im also a light blonde but my husband thinks its sexy when my [bikini area hair is] dark brown. he just loves my [censored] and cant get enough of it!! but when its light blonde its apparetnly not a as sexy. anyways back to my point. so I died my [bikini] hair using the medim brown and it turned my pubs an orangish color and stained my [bikini area] brown. I just dont know what to do!! my husband wont have sex with me anymore!! plus my [censored] broke!!! HEEELP

  12. Okay…well, first of all Kimberly, I didn’t really think this was necessary to note, but: most at-home haircolors are not actually meant for coloring the, erm, “bikini” area. My goodness.

Secondly, Linita – any time you leave any harsh chemicals like those in haircolor on for an extended period of time, you risk having hair fall out and unpredictable color results. Hair color is very harsh usually, and this product is formulated to be less so, but ALL home hair colors should be treated as if they were a biohazard.

PLEASE stop blaming the product for this stuff. If you read the directions, your hair will not explode, I promise you. A product like this is not meant for going from Level 8 to Level 2 color. (Very light color to very dark color, for you non-salon types.) And NO home product is meant to be left on all night. Blaming that result on Perfect 10 is like saying “Well I applied this product to my dog’s hair and then waited 6 hours and sprayed her with Sun-In just to make sure it would look light enough, and instead of taking her hair from dark brown to blonde, it killed her! I’m suing Clairol!” Not logical, kids.

  13. I just used this last night (in Dark Brown) and it worked as well as you said.

Also – it DID cover my grays. I followed the instructions and left it on for just ten minutes as suggested and it worked! Great product.

  14. I used the Perfect 10(dark brown) tonight and left it on for 20 minutes on the roots, then combed it through the rest of my hair and left it for another 10 minutes(at the suggestion of a friend who is a stylist) and though it’s darker than I’d like, all my grey is covered, so far, anyway. My hair felt dry like wool until I used the conditioner and it had never felt like that when I’d used Nice n Easy Root touch-up. I hope I haven’t permanently damaged my hair. Are there any special conditioners generally available to help with this? I live in an area where specialty products aren’t readily available. I would stick with the directions next time.

  15. It’s now a week later and my hair is fine. It’s healthy and shiny and my grey is covered completely. I would definitly use this product again.

  16. An update from my last post dated April 2, 2008:

I used the medium brown again. Left on roots for 10 minutes instead of 5 minutes. Then put it on the rest of my hair for 5 minutes. That’s perfect time for me. Got total gray coverage and am very happy with the result.

  17. Over the last 20+ years, my hair has been almost every color imaginable – achieved using home dye kits and also going to the salon – so I have tons of experience with coloring my hair. (FYI -The best reds I’ve used have been from L’Oreal’s Feria line. Maybe at some point when Perfect 10 comes out in more variety of reds I’ll try them.)

This time, I wanted to go darker than my light/medium reddish brown. I used the dark brown (”Espresso on the Double”) for the suggested 10 minutes. I didn’t have a problem with the comb-like applicator; the smell was average as far as home hair kits go; it was close on the amount for my below shoulder length hair but I made it–just. It doesn’t really matter to me if it’s quick or takes longer… I go for the results. This being said, although the color came out a bit darker than I thought (closer to black than dark brown), I absolutely loved it! I never would have thought I would look good in hair so dark so — it was a happy accident. My hair also stayed soft and manageable (I invest in good shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair and deep conditioning treatments so I think that helps.) My resistant greys didn’t make a re-appearance.

About a month after using it, I got a gift certificate to the salon I go to now and again and went for a cut, color and highlights. Two words… Hated It. So much money wasted — I usually like and trust my stylist but this is the 2nd time I wasn’t happy. Now I’m going to try to turn my mud brown hair with — not blond highlights, but yellow “streaks” (UGG) — back to dark brown. To work up to getting a better overall even color, I will start by using the Perfect 10 natural light brown which I purchased yesterday and try to blend in the “streaks”. I definitely plan on returning to my “Espresso on the Double” after that.

I’ll guess I’ll be doing my own hair for a while due in part to finances and in part because if I screw up I have no one to blame but myself! (I will, however, have more money in my pocket to do some shopping to make me feel better!)

FYI – to those who want to dye the hair “down there”… there is a product just for that called “Betty” (never something I’ve tried but I came across it during one of my fanatic searches on different hair colors).

  18. erm, i know, odd name.
anyway, i am trying to do something i haven’t done in eight years; go back to my natural hair colour which is an ash blonde of some sort.
my hair has been all of the colours of the rainbow, and has suffered needlessly, but it’s still there, thank heavens.
last week, i did a boo boo. my hair was dark ash brown, i bleached it… twice in one week. =p
weeell, my hair is a ‘little’ fried, just a tiny bit, but still enough to bug me, so this brings me to my question.
do those here [in favour of perfect 10] believe it is well enough to cover my bleached head without causing my hair to fall out?

    thank you for your time.

  19. Hey there Ashton,
First of all, if you bleached your hair any less than 2-3 weeks ago, I say leave ALL color alone for awhile (even salon stuff) and focus on getting some moisture into your hair. I recommend Tigi Dumb Blonde deep conditioner once a week.

Once you see an inch or two of root growth, you can try coloring again. Here’s the deal though: bleached hair does not hold any color, regardless of the formulation, very well at all. However, because Perfect 10 is a more gentle formula than most home colors and because it doesn’t sit on your head very long, I would highly recommend it for your next color or two, just because it’s very likely it won’t make your hair fall out. Coloring too soon can and very well might make your hair fall out. Please don’t.

I know living with this color for a couple of weeks sounds horrible, but it’s better than going half bald! Just pile your hair up on top of your head and clip it there to hide the roots. Use a lot of product, too, particularly gel; it will make your hair look darker for a bit. Good luck!

  20. thank you for the advice cailin.
    will do.
i would hate to lose it, the colour now is not too bad. i’ve seen worse. eh.

  21. I love this product. I love that it washes out easily. Other products take forever to wash out. Second I like that it does not stain my skin and scalp like other products. I use the dark brown shade. It seems to last as ong as other products.

  22. As we speak I am re-coloring my hair after using perfect 10 about 3 weeks ago. My roots looked awful. In my opinion it was very messy and the comb was horrible. I abandoned that after the first couple of passes. I was not thrilled with the overall color after processing. The gray coverage at the roots was fair, but it was a lighter color that the rest of my hair. I barely had enough product to complete the coloring. I too noticed the considerable stinging on the scalp as others have commented on. I also disliked the texture of my hair. I use high end salon shampoo/cond so that’s not the problem.
10 minutes sounded like a great thing, but in the end I will go back to my tried and true Nice and Easy by Clairol. I like that the N n Easy line has the neutral choices to keep the reds out of my brown hair. After all 40 minutes and $8 isn’t so bad. This product is going to have a tough time making it if you are used to better coverage products.

  23. it is not worth the money. half is left in the comb; very hard to squeeze the bottle.
doest not cover very well grey and does not smell much better than other products. it smells of ammonia – must have smth like this…

  24. Bunny, I had fabulous results with the Light Auburn Perfect 10. I have also purchased the Loreal Professional Color Depositing Shampoo and Conditioner in Red Clover to help hold the notoriously fading red color in between. I have a question..do you or anyone have any idea if we can buy just the Perfect 10 Conditioner? I agree that it’s fabulous and my newly colored hair felt very dry until I put the conditioner on. I suppose Clairol wants us to use it 1x/week until the next coloring, when we will get another tube of conditioner to hold us for the next 6 weeks.

  25. yikes, i have one more question. [i know, i ask a lot, but i love my hair and have no money in case i mess up...] i am going to colour my hair next month [i'll have the money then] and my hair is bleached, but it’s a yellow-y blonde. i would love to go to my natural colour [ash blonde], so i want to colour it a light ash blonde. my question, will this turn my hair green?

i’ve had green hair before and i’d love not to re-experience that. =D?

  26. Cailin, I used Loreal’s Feria lightest bleach blonde. I left it on longer than I was supposed to and now my hair is so bleached out it is practically white! I love having light blonde hair and want to try Perfect 10. My question is, will the shade #10 lightest blonde just bleach my hair out more or will I get a better blonde color? Since you like the light blonde as I do, I feel you will know what blonde color will be best for me in my situation. I do not want to go a dark blonde as I like the light natural blonde. Any suggestions? Thanks a million!!!

  27. I used perfect 10 for my hair and I didn’t like it at all!
Keeping in mind I used the dark brown kind (sorry, I can’t remember the exact color) but it turned my hair black! And not the shiny, vibrant black but a dull wig-looking black.
The comb is also tricky to use and I had to switch to the normal nozzle because it kept getting tangled in my hair.

  28. Just tried Perfect 10 Medium Brown last night. WORKED WONDERS! I had recently dyed my hair a light brown with loreal feria and was very dissapointed when the color faded within days and turned my hair very unmanagable and dry. I would suggest Perfect 10 to anyone! i didn’t use to comb the whole time although it was relatively easy to use, i prefer the tip applicator with a good ol fashion brush through with a comb. Left it on between 10 and 15 minutes and my hair looked better than the box said it would. GREAT!

  29. Ashton,

No, an ash color should not turn your hair green. However, please avoid the L’Oreal Feria Light Ash Blonde color. The first time I used it (following all instructions to a tee), it tinted my hair an old lady-esque shade of blue. A year later, I forgot about the fiasco and bought the same color again. The result? You guessed it: blue. No bueno.

If you’re terribly worried, pick a warmer looking shade that still describes itself as ash. And again, please don’t expect much out of coloring bleached hair, as it is notoriously poor at holding color. It may take you a couple of applications (which I would space out by at least three weeks at a time) before you see the results you’re looking for – which is better than overdoing it once and breaking all of your hair off. EW!

  30. Debbie,

I’ve been in your exact situation, and 99% of the Lightest Light Blonde hair color products on the market will not deposit any more color and can, in some cases, simply lighten your hair even more. I also prefer a light natural blonde, and most of the time I choose the color a step or two down from the lightest blonde offered. Trust me, since you’re going over bleached hair it won’t look as dark as it does on the box. The lower levels of blonde are much more flattering most of the time as well, for a couple of reasons:

    – They enable your hair to catch light. When your hair is bleached blonde Billy Idol style, there’s nothing for the light to reflect off of, and light reflecting off of your hair makes it appear shinier and healthier.
    - The lightest blonde colors reveal the most imperfections, particularly split, dry and broken ends (which coincidentally, bleached hair has a lot of).

  31. Thanks so much Cailin for all of your advice. It is greatly appreciated and makes alot more sense to me now. Any suggestions on which color blonde in the Perfect 10 shades or any other brand you might suggest? Thanks again :)

  32. Wow! There are so many good tips on this site. Thanks everybody!
I hope someone can help me with my hair. I spend all day reviewing clairols perfect 10 and it seems to work for blondes but not for brunettes. My hair is naturally a light brown but I dyed it a medium golden blonde at the salon. Now there are about 2 inches of roots showing and I hate it. So should I try the perfect 10 medium golden blonde? will it match my roots to the rest of my hair? Any advice anybody? Please help!!!

  33. One more thing:
Are there currently any coupons for perfect 10 available???

  34. Hello just heard about Clairol perfect 10 colour No 5. i would love to try it but dont know where to purchase have tried online. I live in Belfast N. Ireland. Can anyone help Kate

  35. After not being able to find my usual brand of Medium Golden Blonde I switched to perfect 10. I LOVED the immediate result…loved the shades of golden. It has been about 3 weeks later and the golden has had it’s share of fading, but overall I really like the color and texture. I will continue to buy this product.

  36. Although I read all the reviews, good and bad, i still purchased Perfect 10 in Medium Blonde and hoped to lighten my light brown hair. I have a very cool skin tone but opted for a neutral hair color because of the selection in the cool colors. This was my first time ever dying my hair at home and that probably contributed to the many problems i encountered, i found the brush quite tricky to use and was very unsure about the amount of color I needed. To make a long story short, I ended up with hair a touch lighter, so basically a light golden brown, with red tones? I don’t know how red got in their but now I look like a wannabee strawberry blonde. I’m not sure if I will continue on my path to be blonde, but if I do it will most likely be with a dye that is more user friendly for someone who isn’t very dye-handy, like me.

  37. I have a question!! Im in serious need of hair help…..I have natural light blonde hair(Im lucky I guess) I decided to go brown for a little bit and realized I was crazy and decided to go back to blonde. I found Perfect 10 Light ash blonde which is really close to my natural color I knew that it woulndt work however without the brown gone…I found a color remover and decided to try it…….it removed the brown and left me with brassy yellow hair :( its horrible. I even did a strand test and the strand looked fine. My question is, in your opinion if I now use the Perfect 10 on top of the brassy yellow will it make it worse or do youthink the color will turn out ok……I dont even want to do a strand test because obviously those dont work for me or something. I am DESPERATE!!!!!

  38. Not happy with Clairol Perfect 10. Had been using Clairol Hydrience for over a decade and loved it. Clairol Perfect 10 has changed the texture of my hair, makes it get tangled when wet and breaks. Rinsing the hair coloring was a bad experience, had to put in the conditioner so that the hair would get untangled and the coloring rinse out, my hands were covered with broken hair! Comb applicator is a gimmick. Clairol lost a customer.

  39. Wow, Cailin, I came across this thread and you seem to be the perfect person to give advice about blonde hair! Mine was severely damaged (at a salon) from lightening. I left the salon with HUGE clumps of hair broken off right from the root (horrible!) She must have put the product on way too strong for way too long in order for that to happen. she did it perfectly fine in previous salon visits, and I’ve even done at home bleach by myself and never had any major problems (and i suck, sooo sloppy lol).
Anyway, its been on the mend for over a year now, the condition is significantly better, although of course still a bit on the damaged side and the pigment is pretty stripped out of the longer parts of my hair that survived. Needless to say, the color is kind of blah…I’m sure you’ve been there! I still want to keep it a light blonde, but want to inject some color, life, and hopefully SHINE into it. I get confused looking at all the lighter blonde shades at the drugstore, wondering if they’ll actually “color” my hair, or just lighten it even more. Today I was looking at the shade of Perfect 10 that you wrote about here (lightest blonde) and was wondering the same thing: will it take me even lighter, or is it safe for me to try? I DO NOT want to go any lighter. Also, is there any other brand/shade you would recommend for my situation? I notice you said the lightest blondes (which I tend to like the look of, but fear they will bleach me out more) are not the best choice for bleached hair, and to go 1 or 2 shades up. Is there any danger of those shades going too dark on previously lightened hair?
I know it might be a little difficult to get color to take really well on my hair, so my main concern is to find a product that is not too dark, yet will not simply lighten my hair further. Like you, I prefer light natural or beige tones, ash tends not to flatter me. My apologies for bombarding you with questions, any advice you could offer would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance :)

  40. Melissa,

Since hair stripped of its pigment doesn’t take color well, it’s unlikely a darker blonde color would look too dark. One advantage of blonde hair over brunette and red shades is that the colors blend quite easily, so a product change here and there is rarely noticeable. As well, Perfect 10’s comb applicator will space the color neatly through your hair and help to blend the shades. So yes, Perfect 10 should be safe for you to try, but please space your colorings out well! Due to lots of dedication, I have healthy, soft hair, and I keep it that way by NEVER doing two coloring sessions within 3 weeks of each other.

  41. Hey Cailin, first up I want to say you give great advice!
I previously lightened my dark blonde roots to match the light blonde color on the rest of my hair. The roots turned out a little too golden blonde and so I am wondering if I should get highlights to match the rest??? Or do you have any other idea? Thanks in advance!

  42. I Cailin,
first, perfect 10 was a good product for me. I have naturally curly hair, and they tend to broke easily, so the fact that a don’t need to let the the product for a long time help.

So now, I have a question for you. My natural colour is medium brown with a bit of auburn, but they ALWAYS turn sorta red-orange during the summer, because of the sun. I tried a darker brown to prevent that, but still, I have now a faded funky orange-red. Should I try a even darker colour (but I don’t want to turn black), or do I have to learn to live with this for the summer?

  43. Past sixty – med. brown with lots of grey fine texture

Will the Perfect10 work for me? I usually go with light to medium brown.

I have very light skin and blond washes me out completely.
Don’t need to look “hot” just not ready for the grave, you know.

  44. I used Clairol Perfect 10 and it worked like a charm! I had a couple of different tones in my hair and I have red undertones, but this evened out all of the different colors in my hair. The conditioners smells delicious and the die works. The color I used is light golden brown, and left it on for the alloted time. The best thing about this product is that it didnt damage my hair. Any hair product will damage your hair more if your hair isnt healthy or close to it before the dying process. I hope this helps!

  45. Just a note for that woman who was talking about dying her, erm, bikini area: they make a special dye just for that: Betty Beauty comes in Black Betty, Brown Betty, Auburn Betty, Blonde Betty, and Fun Betty (hot pink!!!). It’s specially formulated to dye down there to make the carpet match the drapes or to cover up grays!

  46. Hello Cailin, I have a few questions I hope you (and/or anyone else that reads this blog) can help with. I haven’t dyed my own hair before, I’ve always gone to a salon for coloring, so I’m not sure of the proper procedure to follow or how the coloring works exactly if you do it yourself. I’ve read that to get uniform even color you should dye the middle of hair first, then do the roots, then the ends, so that one part doesn’t come out with more color than another and look funny..is this accurate? How do you know how long to keep color on each part?
If dye at the roots doesn’t actually take as long as the rest because it’s closer to your head and warmer, wouldn’t the roots take much less time?
I’ve also read that you should put color on the roots first, wait 5 minutes, then color the rest of the hair..what I don’t quite understand about that is once you have color on the roots, doesn’t it still keep working as you’re putting color on the rest of your hair, or does it stop coloring after you pull the color through the rest of hair..that’s a bit confusing to me.

I’ve read that you should separate your hair into 4 sections when you apply color to make it easier..does this really work? If Clairol Perfect 10 only takes 10 minutes, it kinda seems like it would take longer than 10 minutes to color all of your hair this way, pinning sections apart as you go and coloring different parts of your hair at different times, then having to go back around and color everything else..

I’ve also read on another website that you should NEVER put haircolor over previously colored hair..that it will not lift the artificial pigment from the previous haircolor and the end result will only be darker and you will be disappointed. Is this true? Does this only apply if you previously darkened your hair?

I hope that all makes sense..I apologize for all the questions but I’m a novice at this and just want to be sure nothing truly unpleasant occurs in the process of home coloring.
One other thing..if hair is on the dryer side and not in total perfect condition as you would like it to be, does that affect how much time you should color? Does it take less time then?

Thank you very much for your help!

  47. Hi! I just used the Perfect 10 last night in the dark brown – Espresso on the double shade, over previously colored hair. I was hoping to refresh the color (a dark-medium golden brown) withotu going to the salon, which is where I was getting it colored for the past year. I am now back to my natural color, which is more like a soft black rather than dark brown. I was wondering if you know how soon can I re-dye my hair? I really did like the Perfect 10, super quick and easy to use with good coverage. I’m hoping to use the Medium Brown – do you think this will work, or just make it darker?

  48. I have found using a bottle of peroxide after you color really does the trick. Leaving the peroxide on for atleast a day really brings out the color .

  49. Does colouring hair damages its texture.

  50. Colouring your hair won’t really damage your hair . I am naturally darked haired which makes colouring it a nightmare. But i use a oil treatment , the next day and i follow this by using loreal elvive shampoo’s and conditioners nutri gloss light . !!

  51. I tried it already…….it colored my hair, but not the gray (:

  52. I used this product 1 month ago. My fine, curly, formerly healthy hair is now straw dry, brittle and breaking off. Sitting with conditioner on as I write this. HUGE mistake to try this product, I am so mad at myself! Have been using Wella Color Charm for years with great results, read about Perfect 10 in O magazine and decided to give it a shot. Very strong smell, slightly burned and I only left it on for 8 minutes. Again, HUGE mistake! Will take months to restore the condition of my hair. NEVER WILL USE A PRODUCT LIKE THIS AGAIN! Lesson learned! Should have read these 1st hand accounts BEFORE ruining my hair! Extremely dissapointed!

  53. I used this product for the first time 3 months ago. I used the lightest blonde color. First of all my natural hair color is dark blonde, and I had some accidental white blond highlights throughout my hair prior to using this product. What I loved about the Perfect 10 lightest blonde color is how it lightened the darker hair and left the highlights pretty much the same color they were. So I ended up with multitonal color that was more even instead of so contrasting. The only thing I didn’t like about that color is that my roots got a little too brassy due to the warmth of my scalp. Last night I used the Perfect 10 Ash Blonde 9A and I LOVED LOVED LOVED IT! After several dissappointments with using ash anything (purplish hues, grayish hues) this color turned out to be my dream come true color! No brassiness, no grayishness, just perfect beige blonde, better looking than anytime I’ve left a salon or the several failed attempts 10 years ago at dying my hair in my teenage years… I would recommend this to any blondes! Also, I followed the instructions to a “T” and didn’t try to be smarter than the box… 10 minutes and I washed it out and it is perfect and silky and I couldn’t be happier.

  54. I bought 2 of the Perfect 10 Clairol in mochalotive # 5. I paid 13.99 for each, which came out to $27.98 for both + tax. I used it 1st on the roots then applied on the rest of my hair… my natural hair color is dark brown, and for some reason after the application the ends of my hair are lighter then my roots…I’m not happy with this product…I won’t buy it again…I think I preferred to paid extra at a salon then do this again.

  55. OMG! why do people keep on saying this product is really bad? Some people are just not using their heads, of course you don’t leave the product in all night because it is Chemical!

And Myra? the easiest way is to use ONE, i repeat ONE colour and THEN when you find out what that looks like THEN use the second colour. DUH.

  56. My hair is naturally light (very) ashen brown with about 5% grey. I decided to try Perfect 10 since I have trouble getting any dye to cover the grey. Used the light ash brown shade and left it on for about 15 minutes. There’s slightly more colour in the bottle than with other brands, so although it didn’t initially cover my mid-back length hair, using a comb I managed to get covereage almost to the tips.

It covered the grey remarkably well, but overall it’s a really warm colour – much more of a golden brown than an ash brown. Two weeks later my hair still feels quite soft and the grey is still covered, so I’m impressed with the quality of the product, but I don’t think I’d use it again simply because the colour is too red. I’d suggest it for anyone looking for warm colours.

  57. I just used perfect 10 in light ash brown, the models hair color is gorgeous. My hair is ruined, my roots went orangey for some reason and my hair is naturally brown. When i washed out the dye and started to put the conditioner in, chunks of my hair was falling out. I dye my hair every few months, but its very healthy, this has never happened to me before, my hair looks awful its dead, none of it colored except the roots. Im so dissapointed, what a waste of 15 bucks.

  58. So I have been coloring with 5 (medium brown) hair color and it kept fading too fast. So I bough Perfect 10/ 4 (dark Brown) espresso. It went a true black. Has anyone had this happen? I can stand it for a while, I just want to know if it will fade to a brown hue? I didn’t really want black hair… thanks for your help..

  59. First, Cailin-you give great advice…and such patience!
After reading through the reviews I can see a trend- most (not all-but a good portion) of the issues came from not following the directions and a lack of good old fashioned common sense (i.e. don’t use hair dye on your nether regions…or you’re lucky not to do serious damage; never ever leave hair dye on for longer than the box says the max is-in this case 15 minutes…or you risk losing your hair). I guess some of us like to learn the hard way. Nonetheless, I am satisfied enough with the results that the majority of you had so tomorrow I’m going to use the Perfect 10 6R-Light Auburn (I’m naturally dark brown with some red tones). I’ll report back with the results.

  60. I used Perfect 10 in the 10 color after using Loreal for years. Why I switched, I must have been crazy! It did not cover the gray and the glossing agent has left my hair sticky on the top and I look like a greasy headed bum. I called Clairol and they said to keep washing it and it would eventually come out. At least 30 shampoos later, clarifying treatments, and even rinsing in vinegar and it’s still a mess. I will never use Clairol again for anything!

  61. I used the Perfect 10 6R-Light Auburn on my dark brown hair with natural red highlights. I loved it- it covered the few grays I had and gave me beautiful shiny hair. I’ve also just used Colorist Shampoo by L’oreal to keep the color fresh (and super shiny…it looks like I just got a really expensive salon treatment. I’d suggest it for anyone whos colored their hair and didn’t get the exact shade they want (it deposits color) or for upkeep. Both products are wonderful!

  62. Ladies, Can’t you see this product sucks? Most of the opinions about the fantastic” 10 is negative. I wouldn’t even bother to think about buying it. It is brand that is tempting us becuase we want good reliable product at a cost less than you would pay in the salon. If everybody was happy from a cheap brand hair dye because it was to our expectations we wouldn’t bother to look at beautiful models with their pictures on the box edited by photoshop etc. (for God’s sake – they make it to sell it not necessarily to satisfy us and we are innocent victims of all that s…) Anyway, for you Mellisa I would like to say one thing: with your experience and interest in all beauty products I would reccomend that you give us an advice on alternative product instead of defending this one as you must have seen most of the ladies were greatly disappoited after using “perfect 10″ and maybe, just maybe you are the exception who loved it! And my personal question to you and other ladies is: what do you think about Clairol Nice ‘n Easy (6 weeks semi-perm)?

    Thanks for reading this!

    Take care

  63. I used this product and hated it. I followed the directions on the box to a tee. But it dyed my hair 2 different colors, neither of which was the color I picked on the box (the roots were much much lighter than the box and my longer previously dyed hair ended up much darker than the box)and it did not cover my grays whatsoever, and it left my hair feeling like straw, even after using their conditioner. Finally, which was actually good for me, it washed out within 3-4 days. I would never use this product again.

  64. I started using the Perfect 10- 4 or 5 months ago and LOVE it …it makes my hair like silk after coloring and using the conditioner as directed..i use the medium golden blond ,i haven t had any problems with root coverage..My hair is shoulder length and i always have to discard some of the product…I have received more compliments on my hair color then when i had it done in salons .my colorist was great but my purse strings were hurting..I love this product.Follow the directions..including the conditioning tube(sometimes i do use extra)you should get fantastic results..i don t wash my hair for 3-4 days after coloring i think that allows the color to set into the hair..Spray wet and style……………

  65. My hair is naturally a medium ash blonde or brown… I think. It’s been a few years since I’ve been natural. My hair has been everything from golden blonde to pink to black, so you can imagine there’s been a bit of abuse going on. :) A few months ago, I dyed my hair using the new Dream Blonde from whoever, and I loved it. About a month ago, I bleach my bangs and dyed them pink… Then, a week ago, I dyed my whole head red. Like a stop sign. It was fun! Sadly, Manic Panic fades like nothing else, so I ended up getting frustrated and bought some brown or other from Feria. Usually, I’m happy with Feria, but this time it had a strange greenish cast to it. :/ That was yesterday morning. Since I have a hot date (!) this weekend, I decided to try Perfect 10 in black to cover it up.

I read all the reviews on here, and giggled at some. Since I don’t have grey hair yet (sigh), I wasn’t really worried about uneven coverage. So, deciding my hair could fall off if it wanted to, I followed the instructions to a tee. I loved the applicator! I had allover coverage in about a minute. <3 I stripped the color from my nails while I waited, then I rinsed it all out. My hair felt so, so unhappy! Hoping for the best, I massaged quite a bit of the conditioner in, then left it in while I performed my shower routine. It felt much better afterwards, but it still wasn’t up to optimum silkiness. So, this morning, I rinsed it again and put in Garnier Fructis’s damaged hair conditioning mask, and left it in for about five minutes. Wow! I have stunning black hair that’s like watered silk. <3

But I definitely won’t be dying it again for at least six weeks!

  66. Oh, and the pink and red were from Manic Panic, so they didn’t have any harsh chemicals in them. I’m not as crazy as I seem at first!

  67. And, I didn’t bother with doing my roots separately, but everything looks the same. :) I suspect that the people whose roots are too light left it on too long. Ammonia acts like bleach, you know…

  68. I have been using the lightest blond for a few months now and I love it. I love how quick this works and that my hair doesn’t feel dry or over processed.

  69. So I’m a natural strawberry blonde, but I dye my hair dark brown (I think it fits my personality better).. Unfortunately, I have to dye my roots about every 3 weeks because of my blonde regrowth (which looks like balding sports because its so light lol). So tonight I decided to go a shade darker then usual and I bought Natural Instincts Golden Dark Brown and it turned my roots red and didn’t change the rest of my hair at all. So I waited a few hours for my hair to air dry and went and bought the Perfect 10 in dark brown (I must say, the model’s hair in the pic on the front sold me). Before using I read all the reviews on this site and was a bit hesitant to use it. I didn’t want it to look too black and I definitely didn’t want it to be more brassy. I went ahead and used it and I LOVE it! It took the red completely out and just darkened it enough to be the perfect shade of chocolate brown. I left it in for ten min if not a little less (to avoid it turning too dark). My hair is extremely soft now due to the conditioner and looks great. I would definitely recommend it, but also keep in mind everyone’s hair is different and takes to color differently. :o )

  70. I haven’t coloured in a while… sometime ago I bartered a painting with a local colourist and even got to play with a blue steak in glossy black hair. Then I decided to grow it out and be natural for ten years.. till grays started to creep around my hairline. It was time to colour (One of the ways lucky women can look years younger these days.)I had gone from a stranger walking up to me in the street to say “your hair is so healthy” to four years of abuse from hormonal upheavels through pregnancy and babies yanking out handfuls of hair… and now environmental change… it had gone from straight and healthy prepregnancy, to suddenly curly and frizzy. I can work with curly (which I’ve always loved in other people and have my eye on the infiniti steam straightener) but i digress…

Hoping for a new life for my bedraggled hair, I did my research and tried perfect 10. I matched my hair tone to light ash brown and was very happy with the results.. it added sparkle to my hair and improved the condition. I was shocked the way it looked when I left to dry on it’s own the first time I coloured.. as if I had spent hours styling it.

Perfect 10 made my hair look beautiful at first, but I was curious and tried a slightly darker colour… which proved to be a mistake. i’m not sure if it’s because the colour on the box for the medium brown played up the highlights, if I left it on a little too long, or if my hair once coloured took more dye and went darker the second time. The medium brown sucked the light out of my face and trying to put a lighter colour over the darker did not work. I feel a little silly not knowing this, as I thought it would be easy to switch from one shade to another till I was certain which I was happiest with.

Now, I’ve order a box of colorfix (only for permanent colour) by conairpro so I can get back to light ash brown. It must be a popular shade as it always seems to off the shelves first. Crossing my fingers it works.. Colorfix could be a way to avoid build up of too much dye, and its good to know that permanent colour doesn’t have to be permanent. If I settle on one colour I should only need to touch up the roots now and then and dulling from build up of dye should be less of a problem…

unless I get curious again. (-:

I guess the lesson is that if you uncertain about your shade.. start lighter and go darker, as it is a little harder to work the other way around.

    all the best, Jen

  71. I have light blonde hair from the sun with dark roots coming in for the fall. My natural hair color is a dirty blonde. I usually go light brown for the winter. I used perfect 10 light brown and it turned my hair purple. This has never happened before. I was wondering if I should use a dark brown color to go darker to try to cover up the purple.

    Jenny

  72. I guess you need to choose the color that’s close to your natural, for best results.

  73. i just dont agree with the price.

  74. I have 50 % white grey hair (Whitest around my face) with intermintent strands of my natural dark brown throughout the rest. I have not colored my hair in 15 or so years. I am tired of looking like Mrs Claus.
I tried a strand test in dark ash blond, not wanting to totally send my hubby into shock. I had NO results after 15 minutes. Didn’t cover my grey. I then tryed another strand test with the light ash brown and got old lady champaign with a lavender hue. What am I doing wrong. Should I not be using an ash?

  75. I’m extremely unhappy that I chose to believe their advertisement for fail-proof hair. I have red hair with streaks of gray (that actually look blond) around my face. I’ve never had any difficulty covering the gray until today. Not only does the gray not covered (and I too left it on longer than required and started on the gray) the normal blond of my gray now actually looks gray! I paid more for this product because it sounded easier, faster, and I liked the comb idea. I will stick to Loreal for a cheaper price.

  76. I am 45, 25% gray and I have used “#9″ three times now and I think it’s wonderful. I used to have “weaves” every six months at $150 a pop and this was my way of trying to save money in this crazy economy. I still have a cut about 3 times a year in the same upscale salon I used to have my “weaves” done. I was a bit hesitant this last cut for the gal to say something “derogatory” about my “at home” hair color. Instead she said she liked the color, it looked very natural and I could use it every 6 weeks if I wanted as it’s very mild as far as hair color goes. So that’s my two cents…not that it really matters, but hope it’s helpful!

  77. I’ve used this product 3 or 4 times now. My mom even started using it. She’s 55, with dark brown/grey hair. and it works, every time, for both of us.

    Believer. <3

  78. I have natural dark blond hair a year ago i decided to dye my hair black/brown and I recently got tired of it, so I let it fade out until it was a med. brown then i purchased two boxes of color oops to strip the brown from my hair, After that I used a box of born blond maxi. This turned my hair white with orange streaks in it. I really don’t want to have to bleach my hair, I’m afraid it won’t be able to handle it, but honestly I can’t handle orange hair. I’ve heard that when dying bleached or lightened hair you should use a red based color. Do you think the Perfect 10 Med. natural blond will turn my hair to a medium natural looking blond? How will the dye react to the orange tint in my hair? I’m so desperate to just be a normal natural blond. I can’t afford a hairdresser.

  79. GREAT PRODUCT!Perfect 10 works great…I do have gray and the first time I colored my hair the gray was not completed covered. The second time it was. I too used the lightest blond. DO NOT LEAVE IT ON FOR LONGER THAN 10 MINUTES.

  80. I spent the xtra $$ on New Years Day 2009. I have been coloring my hair for years and expect to do regrowth every 3-4 weeks. This product washed out in 10 days! I even left it on my roots for 20 minutes! I had a light colored top of my head within a week! I recolored in 12 days. Would not recommened for gray coverage.

  81. I used “Perfect 10″ several months ago.It did not cover my grey and turned my hair to steel wool. However, I love the applicator bottle. It works brilliantly with Herbatint, an Italian hair dye with fewer chemicals.

  82. I have naturally med blonde and am trying to get it strawberry blonde. I have tried a couple of different brands with the last being Clairol perfect 10 Honey Berry medium reddish blonde. So far they have all washed out in a couple of washes but are marked permanent. Is there something I am doing wrong? HELP!!!!!!

  83. Hey, I was born a blonde but like lots of us it got darker as I got older. My hair is really quite healthy, but it is salon highlighted with a combination of bleach and colour. To try perfect 10 or not to try it. I ask because I know bleached hair does not take colour very well, tho my hair looks more solid blonde than highlighted by the way. My natural is growing in dark blonde ish. any advice would be awesome.
    thanx

  84. I had used the Perfect 10 light blond and loved it. I got a beautiful multi-tonal color. I didn’t care for the smell, and my scalp was very tender for a while, but loved the color. So, when I decided to go red again, I figured I would try Perfect 10 again. Terrible experience this time. The light auburn wouldn’t even coat all of my hair, despite the fact that I’ve had 5 inches cut off since I used Perfect 10 last. Since it wouldn’t coat evenly, I didn’t get the beautiful rich auburn color from my strand test. Streaks of my hair are almost crimson, and other streaks are blond. And none of them look remotely like the picture on the box. The smell wasn’t as bad this time, but I’d rather have the smell and not be wondering how to strip this junk out 15 minutes after coloring. I guess I should have just stuck with Feria, who has the most beautiful red shades imaginable. And yes, the comb in this product is a joke. And even with the regular tip, I couldn’t get my hair coated. Even after combing it through with a regular comb. This is the first time I’ve gone red since I met my husband, and he is so disappointed.

  85. I have natural dark brown with 30% gray hair, i was fed up colouring my hair every 3-4 weeks, so i asked my hairdresser to advice me. she suggested to go blond and so i did, by letting her to bleach my hair, i wish i hadnt, because my hair are damaged, very dry and i have been buying all sort of product to reduce the dryness but nothing works, on top of that i dont know what to do with my hair root which are mixed dark and gray and rest of my hair blond!!! now im spending few hours infront of miror after bath using, gel, hair spray feeling trible, please any one could tell me what to do with the dry fizzy hair!! thanks

  86. Hey, i used to dye my hair at home alll the time and rarely had problems with it. i am very light brown to dark blonde naturally and recently had been going to a stylist for highlights but i’m broke now so I’m back to using the box. I used Herbal Essences the other day and it turned my hair and orange-y color which I chalked up to it not being strong enough to cut through the darker roots. The next day I bought a box of Nice N’ Easy which I had used before with no problem and although the orange affect is significantly less, it still is not the shade I have had on my hair before. I think I am going to buy a box of Perfect 10 in the lightest ash blonde shade, in hopes of counteracting the brassy tones. What advice would you give me and do you think third times a charm? I really want my color back. Thanks!

  87. It sounds like a progressive dye. Does it give a chemical cut? I want to try it, but I’m afraid. Has anyone looked at the ingredients’ list?

  88. Hi Devon,
The Perfect 10 colors seem to mimic natural hair shades. I found the coolest ash blonde warm toned as well.
The first option that comes to mind is a volume 20 bleach. <> of l’Oreal Preference gives white hair.
Alternatively, try white vinegar, chamomile, rosemary, or lemon juice as a rinse.
The quickest option is to buy some “tonic water” for hair(light blue colored). very cheap and effective. The blue eliminates the natural yellowish orange of keratin left in the hair after the bleach has removed the melanin.
Or, or, or what you can do is apply a blue tinted temporary color shampoo with no ammonia. L’Oreal Color Pulse Electric Blue($14-$18) is meant as a blue sheen on dark hair, but of course on blonde hair it will appear as teal or as an ash brown with blue highlights. I prefer Marion Kozmetyki Czern Granatu($2-$3) with aloe because of its instensive industrial blue. I got it here http://www.starskycanada.com/. It vanished my ginger. Buy more than one packet if your hair is longer than shoulder length. Don’t be afraid if you look exactly like Sailor Neptune at first because after 2 washes your hair will take the truest ash color you’ve seen, and after 8 washes it will be a light etheral blonde!!!!

  89. I have med brown hair with medium blonde and caramel highlights which cost me a fortune to get done! Any colour suggestions to try dont really want to go dark , maybe dark blonde????

  90. I love this product. My hair is about 50% grey and this covers it all. I agree with you Cailin , read the instructions and do a strand test. I always do when I try a hair colouring product for the first time – I don’t want to risk a bad result or even worse an allergic reaction.

  91. I’ve been coloring my hair for the past year with Loreal Excellence Cream Haircolor in a light golden blonde. It left my hair dry, dull, and I started to notice breakage. I decided to try the Perfect 10 in the Butterscotch Boom color…a darker blonde than what I’d been using, but was ready for a change. I couldn’t have been more pleased with the results. I’m about 75% grey, and it totally covered the roots. It left my hair very silky, smooth, and in better shape than before I colored. I did leave the product on 15 minutes, hoping for more absorbtion at the ends. I’ll do the same the next time I color. I couldn’t be happier.

  92. I used one of the browns a week and half ago, my hair turned out the right color at least, which I never try to do home dye jobs unless it was a botch job to begin with, but it worked out pretty good. The smell wasn’t too bad, if you ladies think that smells, try doing it the other way—using 20 or 40 developing and then adding color or lightners…always stinks. But anyways, like someone else asked, how or where can I buy the perfect 10 conditioner, omg, it works soooo well. I have pretty thick, solid asian hair, which for some add reason takes in colors and bleaching really well, but leaves so much breakage but the conditioner made my hair feel sooo amazingly soft! You know the feeling you get when you wash your hair and the conditioner is put in and its like running your fingers through strands of silk! Love it.

  93. [...] Linita May 6th, 2008 at 11:13 pm [...]

  94. WOW…. I bought this stuff today to do at home as I can not afford to go to the salon for awhile but now I am affraid to use it after reading all these negitive comments. I need the grey coverage and have been getting my hair done a medium/light blonde. I don’t know now if I should use it or take it back. HELP!!!!!!!!!

  95. I have used this product twice… the first time I used it, I was very disappointed with the color result as well as the fact that it seemed to strip the fullness from my hair. I was so taken with the color system however, that I thought I’d try it again as sometimes, the first time a product is used is never reaches its full potential. Well, I was even more disappointed the second time around. Color is no where where the shade indicated on the box and yet again, my hair feels stripped of fullness. Ladies, be warned!

  96. My hair is long, thick, medium brown and I want to try 110, Natural Light Auburn. This is my very first time. The package says it’s permanent but it also says it lasts 8 weeks. What will my hair look like in 8 weeks. I don’t understand what permanent means if it will only last 8 weeks. Thanks for your help.

  97. I had been trying to work my way up to fairly light blonde hue for a while, but I missed my dark hair WAY too much and had to go back again! My hair was almost black at first but has now faded to a warm chocolate brown. I was not happy with the salon results as the stylist left the dye on my hair for too long, and the price of a little over $100 was not great either! I have heard a lot of good things about Perfect 10 and I really wanted to try dying my hair myself. After reading some of the reviews on this site I was very skeptical and contemplated forgetting the product as the Expresso on the Double colour looked too dark and the others too light. However, I recently decided to just try it out and chose the Expresso on the Double of course, hoping it would not turn my strands too close to black.

I did not mind the comb applicator but ended up using the other instead. I was very careful to wash the colour out precisely at 10 minutes (I probably did 9) to avoid going too dark. In the end, I am quite happy with the results, it is similiar to the recent salon job although not as purple which I of course was not a fan of! I would rather use this product than return to the stylist for the colour i just had! My hair is naturally chocolate brown, rarely dyed, and in fairly healthy condition so I did not feel as the product damaged my hair too much. The Expresso on the Double is not too dark, although I would not mind if it lightened a little.

Overall, I would definetly recomend this product. My first time dying at home and I was just as satisfied (if not more) as when I go to the salon (and for a fraction of the price and time)!! .. hope this was helpful!

  98. I have too noticed that most bad results comes from not using the product correctly. Having used it myself with great results I would like to suggest the following:

Always do the strand test (mix up a teaspoon each of the two components separately), do it for 10 minutes to start with, if you have grey hair ensure you include the grey strands in the strand test. Start off with a strand test of 10 minutes. Only if you are NOT happy with the coverage would i suggest strand testing it for 15. It’s like someone said, don’t try to outthink the colour as it is made with the optimum time of 10 minutes in mind leaving it on for longer WONT help you gain the result you want. Also I would advise against going from extreme shade differences such as blonde-dark brown or other way around. It’s a home hair dye not a magic miracle hair colour changer!

  99. Expresso on the Double is amazing! I love the color I’m left with and get so many compliments on it. I recommend this product very highly and to those who have had bad experiences, you brought it on yourselves. Never. Never, should you leave ANY hair color on longer then stated in the directions on the box. They have warnings clearly stating that serious reprecussions will occur if the product is mis-used. And remember ladies, before you bash a product stop and think. Just because it wasn’t the product for you, it doesn’t mean it’s not a good product. It all falls down to preference.

  100. Julie,
My hair is medium brown and I dye my hair Dark Brown (Perfect 10 – Expresso on the Double). In my case going from medium to dark my color simply fades out to my natural color by 8 weeks.
It’s hard for me to say without actually seeing your haircolor but your hair won’t turn a funny color. It will either fade out by 8 weeks or you’ll have roots showing by 8 weeks and you’ll need to re-color. Either way you have nothing to worry about.

  101. Calin i need some hair advice i am natural a mousey blonde colour i dyed my hair dark drown a few months ago and then decided i hated it so had it lightened 4 or 5 weeks ago but its gone a reddish colour. the colour i am considering to cover the red is light ash brown but what i want to know is will it work covering the red. i desperately need help as am getting married soon and dont want red hair

  102. Is your hair currently at a light brown depth? If so, then the light ash brown will work just fine. Ash has no red or gold, so if you continue to see red after applying an ash shade, it is because you have not allowed the product to process long enough in your hair and/or your grays/white/silvers are just THAT resistant.

  103. my hair colour was more like a dark ginger before i got a light ash brown colour yesterday. i did a strand test and had leave colour on for 15-20 mins. although it is a touch dark then i wanted it is lovely and has hidden the red/gold tones completely and i can now be happy with my colour and not look like an old women with a red rinse, im only 22.

  104. I am going to try the ‘ perfect 10 dark brown’ this week probably, As it looks like the perfect colour for me, ive been dying my hair with random ones, just to see which one was the best. WRONG!! my roots have turned out ginger, and disgusting. I want to go black but im not sure if i’ll look like a emo or something. So im going to try perfect 10 dark brown, So it turns out near enough black/dark dark dark brown? does it fade quickly? and should u leave it on for 15 mins to get the best results?

  105. I have long (bra strap long), previously highlighted blonde hair and I want to use the Perfect 10 Lightest Blonde. However, I’m not sure as to whether one box will be enough for the length of my hair, does anybody else with long hair have any tips?
Also, I’m worried that I’ll get those odd, brassy, ginger roots with the rest of my hair still blonde.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks : ]

  106. Becky, You’ll need to bottles, i use 1 bottles even though my hairs quite short. if you only use 1bottle it wont cover all your hair, you’ll have some bits normal colour

  107. And it could go ginger.

  108. i used the perfect 10 lightesttt blondee, and went lovely and blonde! it is really good i really recomend it, my haiir was highlighted aswell. and useeee 2 bottless

  109. Well, I used it! I had more than enough with one bottle too, which was unexpected. Also, no ginerness either! The conditioner smells amazing too, I’ll definately be using this hair colour again.

The only downside I’ve found is it fades quite quickly, although that’s to be expected with home dye kits..

  110. I hate my hair color so bad its a bronze copper that looks like a dark red. I wanna go back to a light brown but i am worried that the red will have a large effect on it.

Should i use perfect 10 golden brown or just go to a professional?

    PLEASE HELP !
