Things that reverse the signs of aging: Botox, collagen injections, time machines, and…light?
The Baby Quasar Red is a skincare tool that uses red and infrared light to stimulate the production of collagen, thereby diminishing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and enlarged pores. Sound like hooey? Clinical research shows that red and infrared light can firm and tone skin while increasing blood flow and circulation. Until now, Quasar light therapy devices were only available to spas and doctors’ offices.
I was extremely skeptical of this product before trying it, but I figured (hoped?) that at $449, it had to deliver some results. I was absolutely shocked.
I’ve been using my Baby Quasar 2-3 times a week for 30 minutes or so each time. The procedure’s pretty simple: moisturize your entire face beforehand, then move the device on the High or Low setting over each section of your face as illustrated by the diagram. Repeat using the Continuous Wave setting. The instructions promise more youthful skin in 6 weeks. “Ah!” I thought. “There’s the rub. Who’s to say what my skin will look like in a month or two?”
The skeptic in me was soon proven wrong. After only the first use, my skin looked smoother. Ever the cynic, I was convinced the Baby Quasar had just heated my moisturizer and given me a dewy sheen that masked imperfections. But after the second use, the results were undeniable: the dead skin from inside my pores visibly came out of my face. I’m not kidding. No scrubbing, no exfoliating…just my little light wand.
After that, I desperately tried to discount the product in other ways. You’re pumping light directly into your, so it must increase your risk of skin cancer, right? Nope. Since the Baby Quasar doesn’t use UV light, it’s melanoma-free. The only downside I can find thus far is the ridicule I get from my husband while I run this little guy all over my face and watch The Hills.
The verdict: 10 out of 10!
My inner naysayer is reluctant to give the Baby Quasar a perfect score, but the fact is, it works like nothing else you can do at home.

Can the baby quasar be used to treat undereye dark circles?
Thanks.
Diane,
From my understanding, the Baby Quasar will help with undereye circles. The reason is that undereye circles are actually caused by the blood vessels beneath the eye area being visible. Since the Baby Quasar stimulates collagen production, it should create what amounts to thicker and more opaque skin, which would reduce their visibility.
Thanks for asking this, by the way – I’ve struggled with TERRIBLE undereye circles my entire life, and that’s one benefit I was really hoping to get from this tool too. I swear, if I haven’t had enough water I look like I’ve got two black eyes! That’s another thing – make sure, if you have nasty undereye circles like I do, that you’re staying well hydrated.
FYI – I can say that my undereye circles have been reduced dramatically since I began using the Baby Quasar – but I am obligated to mention that I also drink lots more water than I used to and have found some amazing eye creams that I use often, so that may be helping them out. (In case you’re curious, I use Chanel Sublimage Eye and PCA Skin Brightening Therapy; I Baby Quasar every couple of days – okay, once a week if I’m feeling lazy – and I drink water almost exclusively, aside from the occasional OJ in the morning/milk at night/soda or adult beverage on the weekends.)
Good luck with your circles and let us know how it goes!
