I Do NOT Like Ike

*We interrupt your regularly scheduled Fragrance Friday for some breaking news and a rare instance of non-topical blogging on The Beauty Bunny.*

Hello, ladies! Well, this weekend may not be that eventful on The Beauty Bunny, as my husband and I are fleeing from Hurricane Ike. This meteorological behemoth is supposed to smash my house into little drippy bits tomorrow, and I’m not actually nearly as jovial about it as I seem. We’ve sought shelter at the inlaws’ house and I’ll do my best to keep on “mobile blogging” (though I have no idea how sitting in the living room here poking at my laptop is any more mobile than sitting on my couch at home poking at my laptop).

Wish me and my family luck and minimal property damage!

Take Your Makeup From Day To Night

Remember the post I made a couple of months ago on taking your makeup look from day to night? Well, Total Beauty’s got something to say on the subject, too. They seem to favor a more intense, clubby evening look than I was thinking, but I’m just too lazy to do the whole smoky eyes song and dance when I’ve been at work all day.

I love Sally Hansen’s innovative beauty treatments you can do at home, and who doesn’t want softer lips? This baby sounds like a real treat.

The word “treatment” makes this sound like medicine, and it sort of is; the aloe and shea butter formula work really well to soften dry lips and keep them protected.

Charlotte Ronson’s Fall 2008 runway offered a coquettish take on 1960s mod makeup inspired by Jane Birkin. Here’s how celebrity makeup artists Tina Turnbow and Sarah Lucero used Stila Cosmetics to create the show’s look:

Face:
The makeup artists kept the look fresh by prepping skin with Stila Sheer Tinted Moisturizer. Imperfections were hidden by the light reflecting Illuminating Concealer. A light dusting of Sheer Pressed Powder reduced shine.

Blush:
A touch of Stila Convertible Color in Petunia created sweetly flushed cheeks. Models got a splash of faux freckles on their noses and the tops of cheeks; to try this at home, dip a skinny brush into a brown Smudge Pot and let dry.

If your flat iron just doesn’t get your hair straight enough for you, I guess you could try this stuff. I actually would prefer a slight wave or a few cowlicks in soft, silky hair than a stick-straight ‘do that feels like straw, but that’s just me.

Frizz-Ease Straight Answer Straightening Spray

Guest review by TotalBeauty.com editor Beth Mayall-Traglia

This product somewhat helps wavy hair stay straight, but doesn’t leave it soft or shiny. On the contrary, it leaves a stiff residue like firm-hold hairspray.
