The look at Zac Posen’s New York Fashion Week runway show was full-tilt glamour but with a modern, sexy edge. Here’s how makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury used MAC Cosmetics to create the look:

Prep Work

The artists started by perfecting the skin with Studio Fix Fluid for a polished complexion. Cheeks were left unadorned and brows were groomed with the Eye Brows pencil in Lingering (a soft taupe) and Brow Set in Clear.

Eye Makeup

Instead of traditional smoky eyes or the popular cat-eye, Tilbury created a more rock n’ roll look by using Paint Pot in Blackground on lids, then added sheen with a bit of Clear Gloss on top. Upper and lower lids were lined with the super sooty Eye Kohl pencil in Smolder. After curling lashes, Tilbury applied Dazzlelash Mascara, a new product available in November. Nails got a few dark coats of Fade To Black, a polish celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann specially created for Posen’s show.

Brad Pitt Goes Green with Kiehl’s

There’s no shortage of male celebrity hotties in beauty these days, as evidenced by Brad Pitt’s partnership with Kiehl’s on an eco-friendly body wash to raise some dough for green causes. 100% of the proceeds from sales of Kiehl’s new Aloe Vera Biodegradable Liquid Body Cleanser (available in October for $16.95) will go to JPF Eco Systems, a new non-profit Brad Pitt started with Kiehl’s to “minimize impact on the environment through thoughtful design.”

The cleanser, which consists of all natural ingredients such as aloe vera, coconut and glycerin, is joining Kiehl’s product line permanently. The recyclable package also features Brad’s handwriting! Isn’t that adorable?

I’m alive!

Hello, readers! Sorry for my lack of communication over the past couple of days, but Hurricane Ike has left me without electricity and gasp! an Internet connection. My home is fine except for a section of our fence being blown down and of course, the lack of power. I’ve been substaining on Doritos, public WiFi, and the pseudo-Internet my BlackBerry offers me, without which I’m sure I would be curled up into a tiny ball of technology withdrawal.

I’m back up and running now, so don’t worry - we’ll be providing you with great beauty content again in no time!

Lucky Magazine wants you to be lucky, too! The company is giving away $10,000 worth of FREE L’Oreal Paris Bare Naturale Mascara to one thousand of their most fortunate readers. Those are pretty good odds!

The contest ends on September 30, 2008 at midnight, but free makeup tends to go quickly, so I’d get on it if I were you. The giveaway is open only to US residents age 18 or older.  Enter here to win!

The Best Hair in Politics

There’s more to notice in politics than just Chelsea Clinton’s much-improved hairstyle. (And you know, the issues.) However, I have to disagree with Hillary’s tired ‘do making this list.
