There’s been huge buzz surrounding Akasha’s new SPINLASH, which is now being sold at Target. It’s an innovative idea in mascara technology; basically, the brush spins while putting on your mascara to comb through lashes so that they get completely covered and don’t clump. It’s an amazingly simple idea that I’m surprised no one’s done yet. Now for the review:
I enjoyed the fact that the product openly suggests using it with your favorite brand, especially since I didn’t love the mascara it came with. In fact, the mascara in the package was one of my very few complaints! My lashes were definitely fuller with this product than they are with my normal mascara application. When I used it with L’Oreal Telescopic, it didn’t clump at all and covered my naturally blond lashes beautifully. As well, the spinning mechanism is smart: it has an arrow indicating which way it’ll spin and spins in two directions, so if you’re applying to bottom lashes you can spin it the opposite direction or if you apply to your left eye left-handed. Aside from the included mascara, my only other problem was that the counterclockwise spin’s button wasn’t as responsive as the clockwise one. Still, that’s a small price to pay for a neat idea you can use with tons of your existing stuff.
The verdict: 4/5 stars! While the included mascara was unimpressive and one button was a bit sticky, this is a GREAT idea that’ll forever change the way I apply mascara.
Akasha’s SPINLASH is available on their website.

i purchased spinlash yesterday…and it was dead out of the box! did you notice
that they want you to replace the unit every 90 days? i wrote the company…
Hrm…I didn’t notice that. Mine hasn’t died yet. Did you try charging/replacing the batteries?
So far I’ve really liked the spinlash. It’s the best I’ve found for no clumping. The brush spins a little slower than I imagined. This might be a good thing. The only compliant – so far – and I’m really picky, is that the mascara that comes with it is not the best. When I tried to use my fav mascara, the wand only goes in so far because it is too fat. I’m not sure if will reach the product when it gets down a little. Overall, I really liked it. 9/10.
