The mineral makeup craze is at its peak right now, and even drugstore brands are jumping on the boat. Maybelline just came out with a new mineral makeup line, and Physicians’ Formula has had mineral versions of their makeup for awhile now.
Physician’s Formula tried several angles with the new talc free shadow I tried, featuring both the classic loose-powder approach popular with mineral makeup companies and the wet-to-dry function so often used for eyeshadow. With the ADD marketing approach, I didn’t know if I was buying a liquid, powder, gel, creme, or rocket fuel. Well, it’s definitely a loose powder - I spilled it all over my pants just trying to open the darn thing.
The shadow is definitely a liquid, because it slicked on wet and cold. Then again, it’s definitely not a liquid, as the very darkest color available (Brown Stone) was practically invisible and it didn’t stay anywhere near where I’d applied it. And it’s definitely a mineral, because tiny deposits bunched up in my eyelid crease immediately after applying it. In short, it’s not anything but useless. I’ll buy makeup with talc any day not to deal with this mess. The cap didn’t even stay on well.
The verdict: 1/5 stars - save your money and buy a brown Crayola marker to put your eyeshadow on with.
