Following in the illustrious footsteps of The Hills star Lauren Conrad, last year’s American idol winner Jordin Sparks is partnering with Avon’s teen-targeted brand mark., as announced yesterday. Miss Sparks will appear in a nationwide advertising campaign targeted at college campuses and in the brand’s catalog. In addition, Jordin’s mug will be featured on mark. websites and on their Facebook and MySpace pages. The partnership is set to begin this summer…but oddly enough, this isn’t the first time!
Now here’s the weird part. According to Avon, Sparks was Mark’s first sales representative when they launched in 2003. In fact, Mark global president Claudia Poccia said, “We’re so proud of Jordin’s success and all that she has achieved, from the moment she signed on as our very first Mark sales representative and later when she became the youngest winner of American Idol.” Uhm, what? Jordin Sparks sold Mark? I mean, there’s nothing wrong with that…it’s just kind of odd that now she’s their spokesperson.

i’m disappointed in avon and mark on this one- they lied. jordan was not the first-ever rep. there is no way it’s possible, since you have to be 16 to sell mark. if she was 17 on AI last year, that means she was 12 in 2003 when mark launched. avon and mark need to retract this statement.
Wow, she would have been 12, wouldn’t she? I didn’t even realize that. Maybe they mean a rep as in advertisements, like maybe she modeled for them or something. A 12-year old seems young, but some look old for their age, so you never know.
It’s possible that mark. was only sold by AVON reps for the first few years and then Jordin Sparks was the first mark only rep.
