In between trips to the salon, you might find that your bangs just don’t last the whole 4-6 weeks without falling into your eyes or making your haircut look funny. Here are a couple of tips to help tame your bangs until your next haircut by cutting them yourself:
- Part off your “fringe” area in a triangle. Make sure that it’s not too thick, or too thin, and that you only part off what is indeed your bangs.
- Trim them to the length that you want them. It’s best to only trim about ΒΌ” just to be sure you don’t cut off too much.
- Once you’ve trimmed them all the way across, gather up the parted hair and cut it all vertically.
- Let your bangs fall naturally and brush them the way you want them. Make sure they look even and clean up any extra long pieces you may have missed.
TIP: When trimming, try cutting in an upward direction. It will ensure that even if the cut is uneven, it will be less noticeable and will give you a ridged, natural look without cut lines. Trust me, it will look much better. I’ve had classes on this!
See, easy as that and you can make your fringe look bangin’ all the time! (Oh, yeah. I went there.)

hellow!!!
I WANT BANGS!!!!! but im afraid that once i cut them that they might just be too short
so i just want to know if you think its a good idea to cut my bangs just about the same length as my nose???
Here is what I think…
If you don’t already have bangs yourself, and you’re doubting yourself… you may want to try a salon first….BUT…if you’re feeling confident, go right ahead and try it on your own. Bangs can be tricky to do, so don’t kick yourself around if they aren’t perfect the first time. the best rule of thumb is to keep them longer than you really want them, so in case of a slip up, you always have room to correct it without getting super short bangs that you are unhappy with. another thing to remember is that your bangs will always grow out, and more quickly than the rest of your hair. just make sure that if youre cutting them wet that when they dry they will shrink up a bit, so keep them a little longer, about a centimeter longer than when they are dry.
and yes, i think the length of the tip of your nose is a good length because they arent too too long, but they short enough to experiment with.
im gonna try this today, wish me luck!
thanks for the great advise!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last winter I took the plunge into blunt bangs and I cut them myself because I knew exactly how I wanted them, but I wasn’t sure my stylist would get it. If you want to cut them yourself, I would suggest cutting them in line even with your pupils first, and then slowly trim the up bit by bit. This way, you have complete control over the length and you won’t have to worry about cutting them too short. And cutting vertically is important! Vertical cuts make it less polished which means your cutting can be very uneven and your hair will still look fantastic. Best of luck!
