I have a bit of a complaint about a hairstyle I’m seeing way too much: in the emo (or “scene” as the cool kids are calling it) tradition, teenagers everywhere have long, pointy bangs dripping down their faces. What’s going on with that? When did every 15 year old decide they were Pete Wentz?
I’m all for the punkish, edgy look, but these choppy, razor-cut bangs (the new hipsters also have a name for their bangs - “fringe”) have got to stop somewhere; more specifically, somewhere on your forehead.
I’m constantly seeing pointy bangs grazing the cheeks, noses, even lips of both guys and girls - and the styles are too glued in position for this to be an accident. Here’s a rule: if you can’t see past them, they’re not bangs - they’re just hair. What do you guys think? (I know I’m right, but I’m still interested.)

I’m still in high school and although I’m not an “emo/scene” kid I actually think this sort of hairstyle(as long as it at the longest is grazing slightly under the eye) is a lot better than some other haircuts I see in hallways. My biggest pet peeve of a teenage guy’s haircut is a hideous buzz cut. It’s like, one day this cute boy in your class has an adorable head of brunette curls, or if he has some natural but not ubershort hair, then the next day he comes to class with barely any hair at all! *shudders*
I know what you mean, Cheryl. I remember when my boyfriend first cut off his shaggy hair, I freaked! But now when I look back, I kind of like his short hair more. That happens with a lot of guys, though. Once they cut it off you can actually see their face and most of the time, they look a lot more handsome.
Buzzcuts only look good on buff athletic types, in my opinion. Skinny boys look better with the standard crew cut, and surfers need to stick with some shag. I’m married, though, so I’m obligated to think that my hubby’s hair is absolutely perfect for any guy.
Either way, the “emo” bangs need to be snipped!
