Long before crash diets and extreme workouts kick in, Hollywood’s hottest stars plan their Academy Awards beauty regimen down to the minute they hit the red carpet. Celebrities often go beyond hairstyling, makeup and shapewear for Oscar beauty and jam-pack their agendas with the latest cosmetic procedures.
“Hollywood has most of America fooled,” says plastic surgeon Anthony Youn. “They tell reporters ‘I just do yoga and pilates and drink lots of water!’ when they really have schedules set months in advance of award season to guarantee they’ll look flawless.” Industry experts explained the rigorous treatment schedule celebs endure leading up to the big night:
Oscar Beauty Countdown
Two Months Before: The Pinky Toe Tuck
As cosmetic foot surgeries are becoming more commonplace, stars are stepping forward to seek out the latest innovative corrective techniques. For stars preparing to done strappy stilettos on the red carpet, New York City cosmetic podiatrist Dr. Oliver Zong offers several surgical options to get fat toes slim. Fat toes can be slimmed, long toes can be shortened, and feet can even be shaped to fit into narrower shoes. (I’m not kidding. People actually do this.)
Two Weeks Before: Chiseled Cheekbones
Structured cheekbones and chiseled jawlines are a classic plus in attractiveness, so they’re all the rage in Hollywood these days. Dr. Youn, shared several procedures celebrities use to achieve a “structured” look. “Stars often use facial fillers like Radiesse and Sculputra to plump their cheeks before a big event,” he explains. “Another option is Botox for the jawline. It can be injected into larger jaw muscles to create a more contoured look.”
One Week Before: Botox for Pore-less, Perfect Skin
Known for treating facial wrinkles, Botox is now being used by New York plastic surgeon Kamran Jafri to treat large pores, oily skin and acne. Injecting Botox into skin causes pores to constrict in size. “Botox has been used for many years with the most notable targets being wrinkles. Doctors were noticing a reduction in pore size and an overall matte finish on skin,” says Jafri.
The Night Before: Cortisone Shots
All of the stress leading up to the Oscars can leave some celebrities with unsightly breakouts. According to Dr. Youn, “Cortisone injection into the blemish can help flatten the pimple and make it easier to cover with makeup.” Dr. Youn uses a solution of diluted corticosteroid to lessen inflammation and promote healing. “It also is great for stars who do not want a bad breakout to cause scarring on their skin,” says Dr. Youn.

Wow … this is insane! This is perfect reason why young girls shouldn’t compare themselves to celebrities and feel down about it; I’m sure if we all got the treatments and the experts working on us like they do, we’d look just as good!

I’m with you, Renee – although if foot surgery is what it takes for me to look as good as celebrities do, I’ll stick with my current level of Plain Jane-ness.
