My latest opportunity to brag: I got to interview Ashanti! Since the R&B songstress is repping Johnson’s Body Care, she gave me and a few other beauty bloggers an interview spilling her beauty secrets and product faves. Here’s what she had to say:
What are your beauty must-haves?
I have a little bit of everything with me when I travel, but I have to have at least a bronzer, mascara and lip gloss in my carry-on bag.
Favorite scents right now?
J’Adore Dior, my fragrance Ashanti, and Frederic Fekkai Body Creme.
What’s your daily beauty regimen?
I wash my face with Neutrogena facial cleanser, and then I use Aveeno moisturizer which I sometimes mix with Vitamin E. I shower with Johnson’s 24-hour Body Wash, and I love Johnson’s Be Radiant lotion in colder weather.
What hair products are your favorites?
Right now I wash my hair with shampoo and conditioner by Frederic Fekkai, and I style my hair with Bed Head After Party and Kimble Hair Butter.
Are there any spas in particular you frequent?
I only go to one person — Lolly from Susan Ciminelli in Bergdorf’s on 5th Avenue. She’s amazing and actually like family to me, so it’s like my spa/facial haven over there.
What’s the best advice you’ve gotten on maintaining healthy hair and skin?
Cornrows! *laughs* With hair, I think it’s best to let it rest after awhile with all the styling it goes through. I like to rock a ponytail at home, or sometimes I just sit with deep conditioner on under a haircap. For your skin, try not to be out in the sun too much. Bring a facial mask along with you and wash your face two times a day because it does get dirty, especially if you live in New York!
What’s your philosophy on makeup?
Before I got into the industry, I had no idea about makeup. I thought makeup was just drugstore peppermint lip gloss. My makeup artist JJ is dope, she worked for MAC for a very long time and showed me that it’s a craft. I think a great makeup artist is a positive thing to have. But if I’m home or I’m going to the supermarket, no way on the makeup!
How do your hair care and skincare routines differ when you’re on tour and when you’re not?
It’s hectic when you’re going on stage — with all the hairspray, curling iron, flat iron stuff… and you sweat all of that out the first half of the show, so you have to come back and get it retouched again. When I’m chilling or not doing shows, I really do rock the cornrows.
I’d like to say a quick thank-you to my fellow beauty bloggers from Beauty3Sixty5, BeautyAmEye, Beauty Chat Blog, Clumps of Mascara and Luxe Tips! for contributing their fab questions to our interview with Ashanti. You guys rock!

Very cool! You did a great job! xo Amber

Awesome interview, a lot of new info and things that don’t get asked on a typical celebrity interview. I’ll be posting it on my website for Ashanti, http://ashantidouglas.us/
Thanks!
That was absolutely fantastic Cailin! You did do a really good job I am very proud of you!
I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

Nice one!
Great interview. I love it when celebs share beauty secrets, but it’s a little hard to believe she only uses supermarket products for her daily beauty routine. Her skin is perfectly gorgeous. No vit C, retinoids, anti-oxidants, special oils, creme de la mer, etc etc?? I guess some people are just born beautiful.
I was going to say the same thing about supermarket products. I hope that’s true because all the stuff she mentioned are pretty affordable… In any case, I guess that’s good as it doesn’t encourage their fans to blow tons of money.
This topic is quite trendy in the net right now. What do you pay the most attention to while choosing what to write ?
After reading this article, I just feel that I really need more information on the topic. Can you suggest some resources please?
I’m glad I saw this, kudos!
I personally think this is outragous.
Very Nice blog with a ton of informative information. Can you recommend any decent forums or social groups to join that cover these types of topics. Also, I really appreciate the fact that you approach these topics from a stand point of knowledge and information instead of the typical “I think” mentality that you see so much on the internet these days.
Now this is some real good piec of advice, thanks a lot it was quit helpful … keep it up and you have a nice blog by the way
This is a lot better than what I’ve been seeing elsewhere lately. If we had more like it around, I think we’d be better off.
Hey! thanks for the post!!
Nice info, thanks for taking the time to blog about it.
