As if interviewing celebrity colorist Jason Backe wasn’t enough of a treat, Jason also gave me a bonus tidbit about the latest trend in haute couture haircolor shades: champagne blonde. (Of course, the fashion victim in me had to have him mimic the trend when he colored my hair. I gotta stay current, you know.)
This hot new shade of blonde haircolor is popping up on the runways of designers like Calvin Klein, Versace, and Prada—and Spring Fashion Week hasn’t even begun yet!

The cold weather is in full effect, providing a harsh reminder to keep hair hydrated during dry months. Lucky for you, we’ve got some conditioning basics to help your hair stay healthy this winter and all year round.
The hair’s cuticles are parched after shampooing, so following with a daily or deep conditioner is an absolute must. Basic conditioners detangle strands without causing the hair stress, but they should also be adding back moisture. Proper application is key in maintaining beautiful, healthy hair, so follow these simple steps to ensure your treat your hair right!

Inspired by art deco, hair this holiday season is timeless, feminine and glam. “Much like the paired down fashion of the 1930s, hair becomes the focal point this holiday,” says Jo-Anne Dicken, AG Hair Cosmetics’ updo guru. “This holiday we’re seeing styles similar to what you’d expect on the sophisticated red carpet of the Uptown district in Manhattan.” AG recommends trying one of these hairstyles for your holiday celebrations:
The Diva
Before creating this ultra glamorous updo, prepare your hair with a volumizing product like AG’s Foam Weightless Volumizer and blow-dry with your hair flipped upside down. Get The Diva’s fullness and width by curling the hair with magnetic rollers and pinning curls in different heights for a fresh holiday silhouette.

I constantly hear ladies blaming their flyaways on the humidity or the changing season. I’ve got some bad news: the true culprit of frizz isn’t the weather. Here’s a mini-course on frizzy hair, its causes and solutions.
Some hair textures have a natural tendency toward frizz, while others do not. But genetics aren’t entirely to blame: frizz is caused by lack of hydration, so you may not have naturally frizzy hair but have frizzy symptoms due to dehydrated strands. You can combat frizz by using a protein-based conditioner like Ouidad Moisture Lock Leave-In, which also uses natural arnica and prickly pear cactus to promote long-lasting hydration and seal the cuticle layer.
Naturally frizzy hair is more difficult to handle because the hair itself is the culprit. Naturally frizzy hair comes in two types:

Are you using the right brush on your hair? Most of us have no clue as to what kind of hairbrush we should be using to curl, straighten, add volume, or simply brush our hair with. Here’s a guide on which brush to use for various hair types and styling needs:
- Limp locks got you down? Try a vented brush to achieve volume in minutes. One with a ceramic-coated barrel will also add luster and smooth rough ends.
- Brushing wet hair is generally a big no-no. However, Olivia Garden’s Ceramic + Ion XL Pro hairbrush won’t damage wet hair, and with its ion-charged bristles and comfortable ball point tips, is actually ideal for detangling.
- Need to fight frizzy hair and add a little oomph? A heat-friendly thermal brush like Conair Titanium Tourmaline Cork Paddle Brush creates voluminous, soft curls when blow drying. With consistent strides of the brush, you’ll have texture and movement instantly.
- Take control of coarse hair by using a brush with boar hair bristles. A vented one will cut down drying time substantially, which can prevent an over-processed look. Boar bristles also work to make hair perfectly smooth and shiny.
- Craving sleek, pin-straight locks one day and luscious waves the next? You’ll find just what you need with Eco-Friendly Bamboo Brushes. The unique thermal ionic brush acts as a hot roller to create curls, while the boar brush achieves a smooth, straight look. They also feature anti-static and anti-bacterial qualities and an ergonomic, lightweight design.

Once a week, nearly everyone should use a deep conditioner. This protects hair from the drying effects of everyday styling while adding softness and shine.
You know you should deep condition, but you may be unsure as to how. It’s simple: after shampooing hair in the shower, skip your regular conditioner and use a deep conditioning treatment instead. Our picks:
These are also a good idea after any chemical process on the hair, like color.
