Spring is upon us and I don’t know about you, but my mug could do with a little infusion of seasonal glow. Enter Pur Rocks, a new goodie from mineral makeup giant Pur Minerals that adds natural-looking dimension with blush-colored crystals.
I grazed the Pur Minerals Powder Brush over Pur Rocks’ crystals and applied to the base of my cheekbones and the apples of my cheeks. The crystals gave my cheeks a warm glow that complemented my skin’s yellow-y undertones perfectly.
Spring has sprung, and it’s time for me to shed my pasty winter pallor in favor of a season-appropriate glow. In my search for an all-natural radiance a la Gisele, I tried Zosimos Botanicals’ Butternut Bronzer.
Butternut is the perfect name for this bronzer’s shade: it’s a light chestnut-y brown with just a touch of warm rose. I worried this baby would be too pinkish for my skin’s yellow undertones, but it actually gave me just enough color to look naturally flushed without adding that overbronzed Maxim-photo effect. (You ladies know what I’m talking about; those girls look like they bathe with self-tanner.)

Unlike many mineral makeup foundations, Pur Minerals didn’t leave my face shiny. Because the powder is pressed, it’s also much cleaner than loose powder mineral makeup. The foundation gives beautiful coverage without the cakiness I expected from a pressed powder. The buffing brush (called a “chisel brush“) is among the best performing of its kind – the foundation didn’t rub off as I swirled it on, nor were the bristles the least bit prickly.
