Need to fatten up your wimpy lashes? L’Oreal’s latest mascara Extra-Volume Collagen promises to do just that. According to L’Oreal, the mascara is infused with collagen and hyaluronic spheres that clings to and magnifies lashes for “12 times more impact”. (I guess that means your lashes are 12 times bigger – like the overall lash area? How do they measure impact? I’m confused.)
I tried this mascara and the first thing I’d like to note is the brush. It’s HUGE. Mammoth. My inner and outer lashes definitely suffer. On the plus side, the mascara itself has a glossy sheen to the finish that really seems to draw attention to my individual lashes. The buildable formula doesn’t irritate my sensitive eyes, flake or smudge.

My two essentials for a hot night out? Mascara and heels. Enter Lash Stiletto, an indulgently feminine stiletto-shaped mascara that promises lashes will reach heights comparable to your tallest spike heels.
packaging: 5/5
Come on. It’s shaped like a stiletto.
lengthening: 3/5
Lash Stiletto adds a decent amount of length, but not as extreme as the lengths reached by some other drugstore mascaras I’ve tried. Try this instead: Maybelline Define-A-Lash

It’s the holidays and gift sets are abound, but it’s rare to find one centered around mascara. Prescriptives’ Absolute Eyes False Eyelashes holiday gift set includes:
This set has a $44.25 retail value but is priced at $26, so it’s a great deal. The eyelash primer delivers volume and length and is safe for those with sensitive eyes or contacts. The mascara feels silky to apply, doesn’t clump and delivers on its promise of falsies-esque length – plus, the wand has a grip like a ballpoint pen! The eye makeup remover makes daily makeup disappear with one easy swipe.

Despite all the hype, I didn’t love the original Too Faced Lash Injection mascara the way the rest of the world seemed to. My biggest problem with it was the same issue many other ladies had; the brush was massive! Seriously, I could comb my hair with it. So when Too Faced introduced Lash Injection Pin Point with all the lash-tubing goodness of the original with a more reasonably sized brush, I was instantly interested.
Pin Point uses the same formula as the original Lash Injection, but the new brush is a skinny version that definitely defines and separates lashes better. It’s much easier to cover the base of your lashline without stabbing yourself in the eye, and this version found my wussiest lashes with ease.

Everytime I buy mascara, I tend to buy a different one. I am always looking for something better than the last. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose; it’s a game of trial and error. This time, I decided to try out Telescopic by L’oreal in 910 Blackest Black, and felt a lot like Cailin did when she tried it.
The first thing I noticed about this mascara was the tube, shaped like a telescope. The design was different and immediately drew my eye to it. When I used it for the first time, I opened it up and was surprised by the unique brush. Rather than taking the hard comb approach or the traditional brush style, Telescopic is a plastic bristled round brush, and it’s absolutely ingenious.

All the hype surrounding Too Faced Lash Injection Extreme Volume Mascara led me to finally join the club and pick it up. So are all the raves you hear true? Well, that depends on what you’re looking for. Read on!
packaging: 2/5 – The tube itself is the standard mascara tube, but what’s interesting is the applicator brush. The applicator brush is huge, widthwise. The brush is a fluffy conventional (non-plastic) style, but the bristles seem a bit stiffer and it helped tame my lashes some. Seriously though, the brush is TOO big. I can’t grab the thin blond lashes in either corner of my eyes, and I actually managed to smudge mascara onto my skin trying. It’s even tapered at the end, and it’s still not small enough. I got it in Pitch Black, which used to be the only shade, but now they offer a Vivid Blue and Hot Chocolate as well.

There’s been huge buzz surrounding Akasha’s new SPINLASH, which is now being sold at Target. It’s an innovative idea in mascara technology; basically, the brush spins while putting on your mascara to comb through lashes so that they get completely covered and don’t clump. It’s an amazingly simple idea that I’m surprised no one’s done yet. Now for the review:

I added this category just for this mascara because it made me mad. Don’t get me wrong: the tube is pretty and high-fashionish, shiny black with silver accents and that name-in-lights Max Factor logo. The problem is, they did this thing companies are doing now where they pack the brush outside of the tube, presumably to show off the patent pending iFx brush. Nothing wrong with that – just the cheap cardboard casing it comes in makes it difficult to remove the brush without damaging it. I literally bent the brush trying to get it out of the package. Thanks, Max Factor, I really wanted to ruin my mascara before I got to use it but after it was unreturnable.
lengthening: 3/5
Eh, it was all right. My lashes didn’t climb to new heights, but they got a decent amount of length.
