The recent vampire craze will undoubtedly intersect with this year’s Halloween — and if you’re the feminine type, why not pick a bloodsucker whose costume is a sundress? Enter Jessica, whose name I have had to remind myself of by Googling “whiny redheaded vampire from True Blood” twice now. (Yes, twice.)
While her name may not be memorable (the actress is Deborah Ann Woll, by the way), her classy pulled-back curls sure are! Here’s how to score them yourself at home for a tasty look on Halloween:

For promoting a film called The Ugly Truth, star Katherine Heigl sure sported some pretty hair. Austin, Texas-based celebrity stylist Alan Ruiz calls the look “a messy, disheveled updo with lots of texture” and offered Glamour some tips on recreating this style yourself:
- Use a nickel-size amount of a liquid non-hardening gel like Aveda Confixor Liquid Gel on wet hair.
- Turn your head upside down and blow-dry with a paddle brush in a downward motion so that you get lots of va-va-voom volume at the root.
- Once the hair is dry, use a large curling iron to create a few loose, gentle waves, especially on the sections that edge the forehead.
- Next, take a dab of wet styling lotion like Aveda Volumizing Tonic and apply it by “scrunching” through the hair. This gives hair a subtle wet look while maintaining the sexy body we’ve created.
- Pull or pin the rest of your hair into a soft chignon. “I think this is the perfect evening beach-chic look–cool and elegant with body, but the wet effect keeps it casual,” Ruiz raves.

Yet another reason to hate Gisele Bundchen: that frustratingly gorgeous wavy hair she’s always tossing around in our faces. Want perfectly imperfect waves like Gisele’s? Here’s a guide on getting wavy with it:
YOU’LL NEED:
- A wide-toothed comb;
- A medium-sized curling iron (think 1″ barrel-ish);
- Some leave-in conditioner to set your hair; and
- A pack of bobby pins. (If you have to buy some, get the ones that match your hair color. It’s not necessary for this style, but they’re useful in general.)
