Are you sick of Twilight yet? Get over it — despite competition from bloodsucking newcomers True Blood and The Vampire Diaries, I’m betting this fang-tastic phenomenon will stick around for at least another three movies. Ashley Greene, who plays cadaverous coquette Alice Cullen in the smash series, swapped signature hairstyles with costar Kristen Stewart for this year’s 2009 VMAs. Pantene celebrity hairstylist Danilo styled Ashley’s unusually lengthy, luscious locks for the event, and he was gracious enough to share a step-by-step guide with us on how to get the look at home:
- Start with wet hair, then spray Pantene Pro-V Root Lifter Gel at the crown to prime your hair for a voluminous shape on top.
- Since Ashley was stationed outside on the red carpet, Danilo combed Pantene Pro-V Restoratives Frizz Control Ultra Smoothing Balm through from the mid-shaft of her hair to the ends to keep it looking sleek and frizz-free despite the humidity.
- After applying the balm, Danilo blow-dried Ashley’s hair straight.
- Danilo then pulled the top half of her hair back, using a classic French lacing technique to give her healthy volume on top while leaving a dramatic side part for contrast.
- Use a large curling iron to create loose, flowing curls underneath, combing when necessary.
- To hold the look in place, Danilo sprayed her hair with Pantene Pro-V Texture Hairspray for moveable texture while she worked the carpet.
