Is your eye area a crepe-y, dark-circled mess? Does it seem that no matter what makeup or creams you use, your beautifying efforts are negated by fine lines and wrinkles? Never fear, The Beauty Bunny is here to help! We’ve come up with several eye-opening tips — thirteen, to be exact — on improving the beauty, healthfulness and overall look of your eye area.
- Moisture-eyes. The best thing you can do to improve the way your eyes look: moisturize the skin around them. Look for creams containing glycerin, sodium hyaluronate and vitamin E.
- Prevent wrinkles. Studies show that Retin-A can increase collagen thickness. Retinol, Retin-A’s gentler over-the-counter cousin, may also help. If you have sensitive skin, try eye creams with the plant-based wrinkle smoother kinetin.
- To help fade dark circles: try to get between eight and nine hours of sleep each night, which helps minimize shadows and puffiness. Look for eye creams with vitamin K, which helps constrict capillaries and make veins less noticeable, and the natural skin lighteners kojic acid and licorice extract.
Lackluster lashes? Check out these tips on getting your best eyelashes ever.- Brighten eyes instantly. A concealer or eye cream that has reflective pigment brightens the darkest areas under eyes. Apply a brightener, then dab on a light-reflecting concealer where necessary.
- Smooth skin = radiant eyes! Peels and eye creams with alpha or polyhydroxy acids can aid in speeding the turnover of skin cells, helping to reveal smoother looking skin underneath.
- Protect your eyes from the sun. The skin around the eye area is thinner and less capable of manufacturing collagen than skin in other places. The best solution: use eye cremes with SPF15 or higher every day to protect from the sun’s collagen-depleting rays.
- Cover up with concealer. “Concealer is the secret of the beauty universe,” says makeup wonder Bobbi Brown. The trick is finding a shade that blends effortlessly; try going one shade lighter than your foundation. Try Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit, which includes setting powder.
- Make your eyes look bigger by curling your lashes, which instantly makes eyes look larger by casting a shadow on the brow bone. For best results, curl eyelashes for 10 seconds before applying mascara.
- Get healthier eyes with vitamins – just like skin and other organs, your eyes need nutrients to function properly and stay healthy. The six most important ones: lutein, zeaxanthin, beta carotene, zinc and the anti-oxidant vitamins C and E.
- Get sexy, fluttery lashes with mascara that’s specifically designed to lengthen and curl lashes. Try applying a mascara like Lancome Flextencils to the top lashes only if you have problems with dark undereye circles. For more lift, add a second coat to outer lashes.
- Shaping eyebrows correctly can open the eyes, make you look younger and give your face a lift — but don’t try to create a brow that’s completely different from what you have. Nature knows what it’s doing, so follow your natural brow line; just tweeze off enough to accent the arch and get rid of stray hairs.
- Line your eyes. To make eyes look bigger, don’t line them all the way around with the same color. Instead, use a darker shade near top lashes and a lighter one as a smudge of color on the lower lash line.

This is EXACTLY what I’ve been scouring the web for!
